Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction

8-week Course
October 21 – December 16, 2020
All classes taught live on Zoom

MBSR is an evidence-based experiential eight-week mindfulness training program developed in 1979 by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and currently resides at the Brown University Mindfulness Center.  MBSR is the most scientifically researched and utilized mindfulness program in the world. This intensive program combines mindfulness meditation, movement,  body-awareness practices and group processing with practical education about stress physiology. MBSR helps participants relate differently to stresses in their lives and offers the opportunity to cultivate resilience and emotional intelligence. MBSR is backed by 40 years or research that shows people who complete the course improve their relationship with acute and chronic stress, alleviate physical and mental distress and achieve a greater sense of awareness and enthusiasm for life.

Research has shown that many of those who complete the full 8-week MBSR class report learning a better way of coping with stressful life situations, ability to relax the mind and body, relief of physical and psychological symptoms, and gaining greater levels of energy and zeal for life.

MBSR is for you if you want to:

  • Live in the moment, be more alive, awake and self-aware
  • Have flexibility in the face of worry and fear
  • Empower your body and mind to be fully present without ruminating on the past or the future
  • Cultivate emotional and attentional regulation
  • Reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, chronic pain and other proven health outcomes
  • Learn how to bring mindfulness into activities of daily life
  • Gain tools to reduce and relieve stress that really work!
